HTML Egg Classic Edition App Reviews

this app need more options and better site navigation , just waisted $40 on ipad and mac its cool to think you can have it on all devices but it takes forever to create any thing.hope they update in the future then i might use the apps.

If you have some base knowledge of website building, this will be easier after you look at the learning area. I work my site slowly into the program. I work on my iPad and upload at the same time. If you really give it a go, you will like it too.

this program is not user friendly for beginners. it would be nice if i could take my money back. it is not easy or funny.

Please add the ability to buy add-ons to the Pro version of this application, as well as in iOS.

So far it is a pretty good, easy to use app. When closing the app I get the crash window. Also I think there should be a way to save to page locally without having to FTP the files.

App would not open!

Crashes as soon as the icon is double clicked. It works great on my iPad but this is a rip off. Now I got to waste time trying to get a refund. Im running a MacBook Air 2 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8G Ram. Hope this helps.

I have used this app on the ipad, and while it is not ready for prime time, I was hoping that the MAC version was more polished and robust. I was very wrong. The first thing I did was migrate some pages I had created on the ipad. Right away there were issues with editing and saving. I made edits to several pages and while it would not give me an error message, it also did not save the edits. Uploading to the FTP server did not work also, again, no error. I recreated the pages from scratch and saved the files without issue. The next problem that I encountered was differences in the editor to what was being shown in the browser. For example, if I had a bulleted list, when the page was uploaded, the text would display in a paragraph format. I could not figure out a way to add hyperlinks on different elements on the page… somethign that should be pretty intuitive and easily accessible. While I believe that the concept of this app is excellent, it fails to deliver. Many more edits needed before its ready for prime time.

This app is a great value for the price. I’ve used several web-based editors and am finding this to offer a great deal of flexibility, where you are often very restricted on other editors. Some wishlist upgrades for this would be to enable locking text boxes, images, etc. Apparently this functionality is available in iPad version (which I have not used), but does not seem to work in the Mac version. That would help greatly in ensuring the navigation doesn’t get screwed up as you build the pages. Ideally, you’d be able to build and maintain the naviagtion in a separate file so you can easily update it on all pages. Addtionally, it would be nice to be able to edit the html. At least they do give you access to the html, though. Many editors do not.

The author is activiely developoing this app and posts frequent updates. This is a great app if you are building simple single page or even multipage static pages. If this app had a site manager, I’d use it as my main HTML creation tool.

After installing this application my Safari Browser, Firefox and my email all stopped working. Thinking it was a router or modem problem i did quite a bit of trouble shooting. Finally i uninstalled the app and my browser and email started working again.

I had a little trouble at the beginning (I tried to import a web page I had created on my iPad and had subsequently edited with Dreamweaver) but an email to support brought quick, accurate, courteous results and now the program is running smoothly. After a little getting used to it is a marvelous app. I am using it constantly without any further problems.

I have tried several web editing apps. Either they were very expensive or they were hard to use. I emailed their support to request a trial version. They responded quickly. As soon as I tried it, I knew that this was what I was looking. Created a webpage very quickly. They have many videos to show how to use the app. I recommend this to anyone looking for a great website creator that is easy to use.

I have been using the new version and am happy with the changes. I no longer have to fight to get the images to the size that I want. I will get the IOS version once I upgrade my phone at the next contract update.

Exactly what my non- profit group needed, and exactly what I needed to keep up with the non-profit group. Having both the desktop and iPad version is the best. The tutorials in the developer’s site are great. I’m really happy with this. With HTML Egg, and FTPManager, I can do the web changes my group wants while still at the meeting. (May we please have the same fonts in both the desktop and the iOS? I have to transfer the desktop web page into iOS to get “Optima’ font. Thank you.)

Highly useable but somewhat limited and buggy, but encouraging that the developer seems to be doing frequent updates. Update: I hate to say it but I was too optimistic about this app as well as the developer. They are pushing the “Pro” version of this app, with countless extremely minor tweaks posing as updates. So what does that make this version? Still buggy and ultimately rather useless. Why not charge more for a truly complete version and skip the gimmicks. Very close to bait and switch. They are doing the same with their other apps. Disappointing. They could fix this by bundling their apps and offering the so-called Pro version at a reduced price for purchasers of the “Classic” version. But the bugs would probably remain.

UPDATE: I found a great program to edit HTML Source. It is an actively updated program, and FREE. It is SeaMonkey. It is made by the folks who brought you FireFox, so you know it’s a good program. It does more than you need, so just make a new Composer Page, then past in your HTML source there. WONDERFUL!!! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was looking to customize just a single web page at a time, and I can’t see how to do that. Basically, I just want to paste in the HTML code, then go to a more WYSIWYG editor to make my changes, then copy out the HTML code and paste it where I need it on an existing website. I can’t see anywhere how you can paste in HTML code to “generate” your initial web page. Maybe I am in the minority of people who want to do something like this, but I can’t find a decent simple program to do this!

I JUST BOUGH THIS APP, AND IT APPEARS GOOD SO FAR. I LIKE IT.

Better off to get a HTML book.
